Our wool contracts are based on the Australian Wool Exchange (AWEX) Micron Price Guides from 17 to 24 micron. We offer a range of contract structures including:
* Fixed price contracts;
* Minimum price contracts; and
* Collar (Minimum/Maximum) price contracts.
Settlement of the contracts takes place in conjunction with the sale or purchase of the wool (at auction or otherwise).
Given the way wool prices have risen and fallen over recent years it has been a very good commodity to hedge. Producers who have adopted a strategy of locking-in when prices are 'high' have been able to significantly increase their loong term returns compared to those who have simply relied on the spot market.
